Explanation Writing " Special Place "

Title: Why is school an important place to the community?

Introduction: Today I’ll be going to explain an important place in the community and that is “school”, there will be three different reasons as to why it’s an important place.  As we’ve been away from school for roughly 3 months now, we have learned why school is such an important part of our community.

Information 1: Learning

Firstly, because of our education, school is an important part of our community. The value of learning media each individual in gaining the necessary skills through education and knowledge in order to reach their goals. An important fact to remember about learning is that it is a way to improve knowledge and develop skills that will help in achieving certain learning goals.

Information 2: Preparing for College/Future.

Second, our school is important since it encourages us in preparing for the college we will attend as well as for the future. Preparing for college involves being prepared for the things that come with it, such as examinations, NCEA, and so on. Working hard, preparing ahead, planning and setting goals, and planning how you'll achieve those future goals are all examples of future preparation. School mostly serves to prepare you for the college you will attend, as it will become incredibly hard in college if we do not follow the advice of our teachers.

Information 3: Setting Goals.

Finally, our school encourages us in setting goals for ourselves, and school can help us in achieving those goals. Setting a goal motivates people to take action, spite of the difficulties they face. As a result, it can help in improving critical thinking skills, new problem-solving approaches, and a better understanding of how to cope with issues. Setting goals can help you focus and keep the momentum going in life.

Conclusion:

In conclusion,  education can improve your personality and teaches you a variety of skills. It strengthens your thinking skills and your ability to make good decisions. Education also helps development. Above all, there are three reasons why school is an important part of a community's life today.

Task Description: Today the year 7s & 8s had a writing test, & our topic was " A special place in the community " I chose school, why? because it's an important place to those who want an great education , and for those who want to pass college and get into the university they would like to go to. I would say this test wasn't really bad i guess, I did have some struggles on what to write about the "certain topic" for the three information but it wasn't really bad. Writing isn't my thing but I'm working on it ! :)

Explanation Writing - Practice Test

Title: Why is school an important facility in our community?

Introduction: We have been away from our school for about 10 weeks.   In this time we have come to understand why school is an important facility for our community.

Information 1 : School is an important place for us to go to and learn.   It has rooms and people focused on learning.  At home it has been challenging to focus and complete learning because it is crowded and noisy.   At times it is very distracting.   School however has rooms, equipment and people to help focus us on our learning.  We have purpose built classrooms and facilities for us to learn in.

Information 2: School is also a key place to be prepared for college and our futures. Good college preparation helps provide a way for students that are leaving college to become more self-aware and analyze what they really want to do in college, and later in their life. Being better prepared academically for college improves a student’s chances of completing a college degree. If students aren’t prepared for college they are most likely to fall behind or maybe fail.Preparing for the future means planning for different stages of your life.

Information 3: School is also important for our social development. Social development is about improving the well-being of every individual in society so they can reach their full potential. The success of society is linked to the well-being of each and every citizen. Social development is the meaning of investing in people. Socialising is good for your mind and body ( better mental health ). Being around friends brings more happiness into our lives than virtually anything else ( besides family ).  Friendships have a huge impact on your mental health and happiness.

Conclusion: Above all, these are some reasons why school is an important facility to the community. School isn’t just important, it's a place where you can create amazing friends, and just enjoy the fun school life before moving along in life. School is more than what it is :)

Task Description: As for tomorrow we do have our writing test so we have a " practice test " so we are prepared for our writing test as for our reports. Rm3 literacy topic was " Why is school an important facility in our community".

Why kids shouldn't get paid to go school.

Persuasive Writing - Why kids shouldn't get paid to go school

I completely disagree with this option because I believe that if you had the option of being paid to attend to school or being paid to study, you would choose the money. However, this is not a good decision, we did not go to school to get paid, rather we went to learn and receive an excellent education. Paying children to attend school may result in tough conditions.

There will be lots of options for you in conditions of jobs, but you'll also learn about the privileges of your role ( if going to University ). Many people may disagree, but I believe we are too young to get paid at this age; if money is more important to you than your education, you will most likely fail high school and would be unable to get into university.

Task Description:

Persuasive writing is something that everyone on Team 5 does in literacy. There are agrees and disagrees in persuasive writing, just as there are in an argument. My topic was "Why kids shouldn't get paid to go school".

Speech about Leaders

Title: My Thoughts about Leaders.

Into: Good Morning everyone, Today I am going to share my thoughts about leaders.

First of all, confidence is the best quality. A leader must have strong self-confidence. A person lacking in confidence can never be a good leader and  a person must be confident enough to ensure others follow him/her. The leader must have confidence in his/her decisions and actions.

A good leader must certainly inspire others and  a leader must be a role model for his/her followers. They must motivate them whenever possible. Also, in difficult conditions, a leader must not lose hope.

A leader must have Honesty and honour because it is  very important to earn the love of followers. Above all, honesty is needed to win the trust of the people.

Good communication is a must for a good leader. This is because poor communication means the wrong message to followers. Furthermore, good communication will increase the rate of work. Also, the chances of mistakes by followers will be reduced.

So now that you’ve finished listening to my story about “ Leader” are you strong, confident and have good communication enough to be a good leader? Everyone has the strength to be a leader. So use your strength and become a leader.

Task Description: For Writing we've been writing speeches, and my speech was about "Leaders", Today I gave my speech to the class ( Literacy, Rm3 ). I was really nervous, I got my score and it was "19/25" which isn't really that bad.

Last week on Friday the 25th of June we had Vas Kovalski visit  Pt England School. He is a professional Magician, he performed a Magic Show to us. At the start of the show he introduced himself and he also explained to us what he was going to do. He performed lots of Magic Tricks, that's including helping us balance our diet.

He had a massive plate on the stage which had Vegetables, Fruits, Grains, Protein, and Dairy. He pulled food out of a box and placed the food where it belonged on the plate. ( For example he pulled out a corn and it got put in the Vegetable category ).

He had many different foods pulled out of his box and placed it on the big plate. Vas Kovalski asked the audience where the food goes, most of us got some of the answers wrong but he corrected us.

He asked someone to join him and do one of the magic tricks, Lee volunteered and he got picked. Vas Kovalski had a cup in his hand, and he told Lee to bend his right arm, and his left arm going up and down, as Lee was bending his right arm water came out of his left elbow and into the cup.

As Lee finished Vas Kovalski did another magic trick which involved a Rubix Cube and a box, Vas Kovalski put in the Rubix Cube in the box and he was moving the box side to side, and he opened one side of the box there were no Rubix Cube we were all confused on where the Rubix Cube went. But as he was doing the magic trick he pulled it out of another box and we got confused.

Vas Kovalski then asked another person from the audience to come up and do one of the magic tricks, Emeline from Team 4 got chosen. Vas Kovalski gave her an apron and a chef hat, he also gave her the Magic cloth, the magic cloth could change colours but Emeline cloth was only changing to Blue and Red while Vas Kovalski cloth was changing to different colours like Grey and Teal, and Purple.

This Magic Trick was very funny, Emeline on the other hand was confused and what was happening and her facial expressions made everything funny. Vas Kovalski gave her a magic stick and it broke, Vas Kovalski kept giving her different magic sticks and it kept breaking which was very funny.

Wednesday the 19th of May was the first day of the Year 8 Leadership Camp!. We all gathered in the school hall and Mrs Tele’a explained to us about the “O le ala i le pule o le tautua” ( To severe others in different ways). We got on two different buses, I was on the bus with the other team Thames, our drive to camp was 1.5 hours but it felt like 3 hours.

On our first day of camp ( Wednesday ) we got introduced to a person named Zac. Zac explained our boundaries and some other things, everyone then walked to the camp hall and we played cross games.

( Cross Games is a fun activity we did, all the teams had to make a chant, we had a ref off, and we also did some other activities ).

Our first night at camp was really terrible because the cabin I was in kept on talking and most of us girls in the cabin kept laughing. We had two or three teachers come to our cabin more than twice because my cabin kept talking.

My first Highlight has to be  Go Karts because it was a fun experience to do. At first I was nervous to go onto the Go Karts, but my team Coromandel B was very supportive to each other and we all had a go even though we were all nervous to go on, everyone all had four turns on the Go Karts.

My Second Highlight is Camp Search because ( Coromandel B ) worked as a team, we had a strong communication with each other, and even though we had a member in our team that was injured we never gave up. Our team was also very shocked of our time because we broke the record, Kauri team girls was coming with first with 23 minutes and our team

( Coromandel B ) had won by 14 minutes.

My third highlight would be the Polynesian dinner night, this is another highlight of mine because it was an enjoyable night. What I enjoyed the most about that night was the food and the karaoke we did. The food we had was Nachos. It was amazing !For dessert we had Churros and vanilla ice cream. This was my favourite highlight out of all .

Year 8 leadership camp was a fun experience. The point of this camp was to step up and be a leader, to get out of your comfort zone and try new things you haven't tried before.

I would like to Thank all the teachers / parents who gave up their time to let us Year 8s have a fun camp.
